Andy Warhol (2) – Self Portrait

This lesson involves drawing and colouring a self-portrait using their own choice of colours. Add a collaged background and you have a Pop Art inspired masterpiece!

What will my children learn?

During this lesson your children will –

Be encouraged to look closely at their own facial features and notice details about themselves, improving visual perception and attention to detail. They will begin to grasp where eyes, noses, ears, and mouth are positioned on a face, an early step in understanding human form.

Practice drawing carefully controlled lines and shapes, which supports coordination and pencil control.

Practice using scissors to cut out small text from magazines, aiding their fine motor control.

Be free to express themselves in their own way by choosing their own colours and background cut-outs.
