L.S.Lowry (6) – Large scale perspective street drawing and collage.

Together children can create a large street scene by using perspective and adding drawn and collaged details.

What will my children learn?

During this lesson your children will –

Work together to draw the perspective buidings, reinforcing how vanishing points, horizon lines, and converging lines create depth and a sense of space.

Learn how to size buildings and features consistently within a shared space, developing an awareness of relative scale.

Use paper to design, cut, and layer, exploring texture, colour, and surface.

Think about where elements go in relation to others- balancing the scene and placing objects appropriately on the picture.

Make decisions as to what to include in the scene, encouraging imaginative thinking and creative problem-solving.

Learn how to integrate drawing and collage into one artwork, experimenting with media and recognising how different textures and materials create visual interest.

Add their own details to the unified street scene, building pride in individual creativity within a group effort.

Develop important social skills, negotiating ideas, sharing materials, assigning roles, and making joint decisions.

Work on one large artwork together, teaching patience, turn-taking, and respecting others’ ideas and space.

Contribute to something bigger than themselves which builds self-esteem and community spirit.

Be inspired by Lowry’s street scenes of real-life locations. By adding details inspired by their own neighbourhood or interests, they are linking art to their own everyday world.
